GARRETT BRYANT
Description
Platforms: PC
Target Rating: Teen
Information:
As a member of the independent game team 3 Minute Flips, I helped with the hands on creation of Dark World Burger. The game is a "2D Greesepunk JRPG pixel horror with underlying comedic relief." Dark World Burger had a 3 month development cycle for it's Tutorial phase of creation. We decided to focus a Tutorial only due to the intense mechanics, and successfully accomplished our goal. We did however also make trailers for our Pitching Process to treat it as if it was a fully developed game to market.
Role(s):
Art Director, Concept Artist, Marketing Director

Trailer
The above trailer was one of my main responsibilities as the Marketing Director for our Game. In my free time I used to create YouTube videos, so I had plenty of experience with video editing. We wanted to aim for a look and feel that felt like a coming soon trailer of an official release. Below is my storyboard process for making the trailer!
Logo Creation

The original concept of the game was that it would take place on a planet that has a core of meat, making all things on the planet itself made of meat. Knowing it was also about a burger chain, I immediatly and excitedly set out to create a logo that got the idea of burger building, meat world and restaurant all in one. What you see to the left is the original logo concept. The main concept of the logo was to base the overall shape on what you would see on a 1980s diner menu or sign. I combined this with the idea of a meat planet and the original concept was born. From there it would evolve into the logo that you see at the top of the page, created by me and animated by pixel artist Kristie M.
In 2024 I decided to do a brand new rasterized image of the Dark World Burger Logo in order to showcase How much my skills have grown! It can be viewed below!

Character Concept Art
When joining the team of Dark World Burger, the creative director and narrative director (Lucas R.) already had in mind a cast of characters that would be essential to the plotline. He did not know however, what they would look like. I was brought on as a concept artist originally in order to create the high renditions of the eventually pixelated characters that would inhabit this world. In order to find the appropriate style, I asked my creative director for his original idea. He responded by stating that he wanted a very sharp style that had a darkness to it that was not too on the nose but clearly visable. In order to create this specific style, I would end up combining the sharp features and color design of Ken Sugimori's Pokemon art style, with Tim Burton's sharp features but dark aura from his "Frakenweenie" style. The characters and end product can be seen below.
